High-performance thin film lithium niobate (LN) electro-optic modulators with low cost are in demand. Based on photolithography and wet etching, we experimentally demonstrate a thin film LN Mach–Zehnder modulator with a 3 dB bandwidth exceeding 110 GHz, which shows the potential of boosting the throughput and reducing cost. The fabricated modulator also exhibits a comparable low half-wave voltage-length product of 2.37 V·cm, a high extinction ratio of >23 dB, and the propagation loss of optical waveguides of 0.2 dB/cm. Besides, six-level pulse amplitude modulation up to 250 Gb/s is successfully achieved.

A wideband tunable optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) based on a tunable single-bandpass microwave photonic filter (MPF) and a recirculating delay line is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The MPF is formed by cascading a finite impulse response filter and an infinite impulse response filter, which can enhance the quality factor of the MPF and suppress the side modes of the OEO. The frequency response of the tunable MPF is theoretically analyzed. By placing the MPF into the OEO, tunable microwave signals from 10.3 GHz to 26.7 GHz and a 100 MHz step tunability are experimentally demonstrated. The phase noise is 113 dBc/Hz@10 kHz. The results agree well with the theory.

针对弹性光网络中不同粒度业务之间的服务公平性问题,提出了公平性感知的动态频谱分配算法.通过引入一个新的效用函数,使得进行频谱分配时不仅考虑不同粒度业务间的服务公平性,而且还兼顾网络整体的频谱资源利用率,从而大大缓解了网络整体阻塞性能损伤.仿真结果表明,在动态网络环境下,该方案可以极大地提高弹性光网络中不同粒度业务之间的服务公平性,并且没有明显的阻塞性能恶化.

Abstract
Enhancing resonance frequency of strong optical injection-locked semiconductor lasers is experimentally studied. Resonance frequency is increased from 4.1 to 53.9 GHz by the optical injection locking (OIL) technique. We experimentally demonstrate that resonance frequency is strictly equal to the frequency spacing between the cavity modes of the master and slave lasers under strong OIL condition. This result provides valuable information to improve OIL theory.

Abstract
We propose a joint nonlinear electrical equalization approach in coherent optical discrete-Fourier-transform spread orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing (DFT-spread-OFDM) systems with polarization division multiplexing (PDM). This method is based on an adaptive Volterra series expansion for nonlinear distortions of two orthogonal polarizations. The nonlinear electrical equalization is validated through numerical simulation of 100-Gb/s quadrature phase shift keying and 200-Gb/s 16 quadrature amplitude modulation PDM DFT-spread-OFDM systems.

Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing-passive optical network (OFDM-PON) and single-carrier frequency division multiplexing (SCFDM)-PON are promising solutions for future high-speed PON-based access. A polarization division multiplexing scheme with direct detection is proposed for OFDM-PON to effectively reduce bandwidth requirements for components. However, the scheme strictly requires spectrum overlapping of two orthogonal sidebands and the 4×4 multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) algorithm to eliminate complex cross-polarization interference. In this letter, we propose a polarization interleaving (PI) approach that significantly reduces bandwidth requirements for optical and electrical components while achieving a high-flexibility and low-complexity MIMO algorithm. Downstream single sideband PI-SCFDM transmission is experimentally demonstrated.

Abstract
We demonstrate the long distance transmission of single-carrier frequency division multiple address signals by directly-modulated optically injection-locked vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser. Transmission distance as long as 50 km is achieved at 5 Gb/s (2.5 Gb/s for each user) through data pattern inversion and higher frequency response gain under optical injection locking.

A 60-GHz bidirectional radio-over-fiber (RoF) system using two-carrier-injected distributed feedback (DFB) laser is proposed and demonstrated to realize optical single sideband (SSB) modulation for downlink. An injection-locked Fabry-P′erot laser is also carried out to realize wavelength reuse in uplink. Transmission of 2.5 Gb/s on a 60-GHz carrier for downlink and 622-Mb/s baseband signal for uplink are both successfully demonstrated over 50-km single mode fiber without chromatic dispersion compensation.

Schemes integrating inter-carrier interference (ICI) self-cancellation and common phase error (CPE) compensation for coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) systems are investigated. The purpose of our research is to counteract the impacts of laser phase noise and fiber nonlinearity. We propose two ICI self-cancellation-based CO-OFDM schemes, and adopt a pilot-aided decision feedback (DFB) loop for CPE compensation. The proposed schemes are compared with conventional CO-OFDM schemes at the same spectral efficiency. Simulations show that our schemes can not only enhance laser linewidth tolerance of the CO-OFDM system, but also present strong robustness against fiber nonlinearity.
